Die Gesellschaft Deutschlehrenden Irlands (gdi) is the post-primary professional teaching association for teachers of German in Ireland. It was set up in the late 1960s and is run by a volunteer elected committee of current and retired German teachers.
The gdi has had a long association with the Goethe Institute in Ireland which has supported the association by providing In-service/ CPD workshops at its yearly November conference and has long provided its premises in Dublin for committee meetings and as a postal address. The Goethe Institute’s Director is an automatic trustee on the committee.
The gdi is a member of the Teacher Professional Network (TPN) in Ireland and internationally is professionally affiliated with the Internationale Deutschlehrer*innen Verbands (IDV).
Die Abkürzung gdi steht für die Gesellschaft der Deutschlehrenden Irlands, die als Deutschlehrerverband fungiert. Die GDI vertritt seit den 1960er Jahren Deutschlehrer und Deutschlehrerinnen in Irland. Die Mitgliedschaft steht allen Deutschlehrenden in der Republik Irland offen. Unsere Mitgliedschaft beginnt jährlich am 1. August. Unsere Organisation wird von Freiwilligen geleitet, die ebenfalls Pädagog sind. Wir sind auf Ihre Unterstützung angewiesen.
The GDI has a committee which serves a two-year term. The present term began in November 2020 and will end in November 2022. Our AGM takes place at the same time as our yearly November conference. All members are welcome to attend. Please come along and consider joining an enthusiastic team for the next term of office.
Unabhängig davon, ob Sie Vollzeit-, Teilzeit-, Assistenten-, PME- oder pensionierte Lehrkraft sind, würden wir uns freuen, wenn Sie in Betracht ziehen würden, Ihre Mitgliedschaft zu verlängern.
